lever action rifle.  Manufactured in 1898 having a long octagonal barrel with a half magazine, fixed blade front sight and a replacement adjustable rear.  The smooth walnut straight grip butt stock is fitted with a steel crescent rifle butt plate and the forend measures 9 3/8" long with all the wood showing assorted handling light scratches, scuffs and a few pressure indentations along with a small nail hole on the underside of the butt approximately 2" from butt plate.  The bore shines with nice rifling and some light surface pitting in a few areas.  The receiver tang is marked with a single line model designation with the barrel having the standard two line barrel address.  The barrel and tube magazine have a blue/brown mottle patina with thinning to the edges along with scattered tool marks most noticeable to the left side of the barrel approximately 10" from muzzle.  The receiver shows traces of original finish with some freckling and light scattered tool marks present.
